What is the relationship between your faith and your prayers?
At prayer meeting this week, one of our older saints prayed a beautiful prayer that went something like this, “We thank you, Lord, for what we know you will do in response to the faith that is being displayed by this group.” He spoke the words with absolute confidence. Clearly, he believed that God had already acted. We all believed it too.
Then he touched their eyes and said, “According to your faith let it be done to you . . .” —Matthew 9:28
We usually either overplay or undervalue the relationship between our faith and God’s action. Some stretch this connection to mean that we can dictate our own desires as God’s will. New Mercedes, anyone?
Others, afraid of any suggestion that God’s will could change in response to our request, more or less give up expecting God to do anything.
There is a relationship between our faith and God’s response to our prayer. When we pray with confidence, things happen.
What about you? Do you have the faith to pray that prayer? To act as if it has already been answered?
What are you trusting God for?
